Welcome to POSC-102, International Relations, with Dr. Ewa Unoke. This class will cover the following objectives:
- The student will be able to define international relations as a field of political science and the role of scientific inquiry within the discipline.
- The student will be able to describe the rise of the nation-state system historically and its profound impact on modern global politics.
- The student will be able to distinguish among the three levels of political analysis: individual, state, and international system.
- The student will be able to define nationalism and its impact on contemporary politics.
- The student will be able to define national power and its role within the nation-state system.
- The student will be able to compare and contrast “old diplomacy” with “new diplomacy”, and the limitations of both.
- The student will be able to demonstrate knowledge of a contemporary international issue and it historical sources.
- The student will be able to define the term, policy-makers, and their contributions to understanding contemporary global politics.
- The student will be able to identify contemporary global economic issues and explain their historical roots.
